Online Lesson 09

In the previous lesson we learned how to use the helping verb DO to make TAG QUESTIONS.

In this lesson we will learn how to use DO to avoid repeating the verb again.

The verb DO as a helping verb

Quick note:

In the simple present tense the verb DO has these two forms:

  • I, you, we, they => do

  • She, he, it => does

We will use these forms in our examples and exercises.

Here is how we do it:

Subject + verb + the rest of the sentence + DO

Example:

He works hard and I do, too.

Meaning: He works hard and I work hard, too.
