Present Perfect Progressive and Present Perfect are very similar and can mean the same thing in some cases.

However, they are written in different forms.

Present Perfect Progressive Tense is used to show

1. an action that started in the past and is still happening in the present
2. an action that was happening lately

The form is:

Subject + have/has + been + verb (ending with –ing)

Examples of Present Perfect Progressive Tense
1. It has been snowing all morning.
2. We have been working on this project since last Saturday, and it is still not finished.
3. Lately, I have been reading every night before bed.

Present Perfect Tense is used to show

1. an action that happened at an unspecified time before the present
2. an action that ended recently
3. a state that started in the past, and is still going on

The form is:

Subject + have/has + past participle

Examples of Present Perfect Tense
1. Mom has walked the dog.
2. We have worked on the project.
3. It has snowed all day.
