Las condicionales mixtas son condicionales en las que el tiempo verbal en la cláusula principal es diferente al tiempo verbal en la cláusula condicional.

Esto ocurre en segundas y terceras condicionales (condicionales no reales).

Ejemplos de condicionales:
  • If I won the prize, I would takecondicionales mixtas you shopping.
    (Si ganara un premio te llevaría de compras.)

  • I would be happy if Tom asked me to the dance.
    (Estaría muy feliz si Tom me invitara a bailar.)

  • Bob would have known what to get only if he had asked his father.

  • If I had put air in the tires, I wouldn't have had a flat tire last night.

If the teacher were here, she would have turned on the heater this morning.

If the students had more time, they would have finished their work yesterday.

Nota

Puedes cambiar el orden de la cláusula condicional y la cláusula principal.

Usa una coma después de la cláusula condicional cuando viene primero.

No uses una coma si la cláusula condicional viene segundo.

Ejemplos:
  • If I had studied in school, I would have a diploma right now.
    (Si hubiera estudiado en la escuela, tendría un título ahora.)

    I would have a diploma now if I had studied in school.
    (Tendría un título ahora si hubiera estudiado en la escuela.)


  • If Nathan and Lisa had finished their chores, they would receive their allowance tonight.
    (Si Nathan y Lisa hubieran terminando sus quehaceres, recibirían su paga esta noche.)

    Nathan and Lisa would receive their allowance tonight if they had finished their chores.
    (Natahn y Lisa recibirían su paga esta noche si hubieran terminado sus quehaceres.)


  • If Dan were traveling with us to Boston on Sunday, he would be saving money.
    (Si Dan fuera a viajar con nosotros a Boston en marzo, estaría ahorrando dinero.)

    Dan would be saving money if he were traveling with us to Boston on Sunday.
    (Dan estaría ahorrando dinero si fuera a viajar con nosotros a Boson el domingo.)


  • If I were you, I would have bought the red dress.
    (Si yo fuera tú habría comprado el vestido rojo.)

    I would have bought the red dress if I were you.
    (Habría comprado el vestido rojo si fuera vos.)
